Airbus delivers four H125s to NSDNR

Airbus Helicopters has completed the delivery of four H125s to Canadian operator Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (NSDNR).

The operator ordered the aircraft in 2016, choosing the H125 after a formal competitive bidding process was opened for four new aircraft to replace its ageing fleet. The deliveries started in June 2017.

The H125s are multi-mission capable and will be flying on search-and-rescue missions, forestry programmes, conducting wildlife and geological surveys and for firefighting. The H125 was chosen due to its high-lift capacity, endurance and manoeuvrability.

Honourable Margaret Miller, minister of natural resources, Nova Scotia said: “The Airbus H125 helicopter is made for the extreme environmental conditions our team often operates under and provides us the level of performance and safety we require.

“The addition of these new helicopters will assist our team in providing increased support for the vast resources of Nova Scotia, including the ability to access remote areas quickly, providing support during weather events and managing resources more efficiently.”

The four aircraft have been customised specifically for the NSDNR. Airbus fitted floor-to-window high-visibility doors, cable cutters, cargo mirrors and cargo pods.

The NSDNR started receiving the new H125s last year, receiving its first aircraft in June 2017. This also represented Airbus’s 700th helicopter delivery to the Canadian market

Romain Trapp, president of Airbus Helicopters Canada said: “The protection and management of Nova Scotia’s natural resources is mission critical and the H125 is a workhorse that is up to this challenging task.

“We are extremely proud of our successful and lasting relationship with Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and we thank them for once again entrusting Airbus Helicopters to support their operations.”
