Knapp will be heading up all legal business matters, corporate compliance and insurance, and replaces David Searle, who has been interim general counsel since June.

Bristow Group president and CEO Jonathan Baliff said: “Tim brings significant legal and business experience from a variety of public and private companies both as a general counsel and in private practice.

“His proven strategic and commercial acumen strengthens our business partnership with the new Bristow corporate and hub leadership teams, as we navigate the difficult environment in the offshore oil and gas industry.”

Baliff also thanked Searle for his “excellent leadership as interim general counsel during the first half of fiscal year 2018”.

This is Knapp’s first foray into the helicopter business. Prior to joining Bristow Group, he was general counsel and chief compliance officer at SourceGas from 2009 until 2016. He was also managing partner at Colarado law firm Knapp & Rome, which specialises in utility, engineering and construction law.
