CHC hires new general counsel

CHC Group has appointed Imran Hayat to act as general counsel.

The Group’s board confirmed that Mr Hayat will be assuming the role permanently after a he took up the position of acting general counsel in January. He has more than 15 years’ experience counselling in the aviation, finance and real-estate markets.

He will be replacing previous general counsel at CHC Hooman Yazhari, who joined Waypoint Leasing as its CEO last month. Mr Yazhari replaced Ed Washecka in the role after the Waypoint’s three investors made changes to the board.

Mr Hayat first joined CHC in 2015 as the chief compliance officer and litigation counsel and helped the company restructure after it went into liquidation in March 2016. The company exited Chapter 11 officially on 24 March 2017.

“I am excited to welcome Imran to this position,” said Karl Fessenden, president and CEO of CHC Group. “He has been an essential part of our team since he joined CHC and I am confident he will not only effectively manage our legal matters, but also offer strong strategic counsel as we continue to reduce our cost structure and drive safe, efficient operations worldwide.”
