China waits for helicopter boom

I have been in Hong Kong this week at our third Corporate Jet & Helicopter Finance Conference to be held in Asia.

While China’s business jet fleet has grown considerably in the last three years, it is frustrating that the country has not yet been opened up to helicopters.

Although the off-shore fleet is growing, China and – even Hong Kong – are not keen on civilian helicopters. Even HSBC failed to get permission for a heli pad.

But there are signs that country is changing with police helicopters likely to be the first big opportunity.
