General Motors unveils Cadillac aerial mobility concept

General Motors has entered the aerial mobility space after the unveiling of Cadillac-designed concept at the Consumer Electronics Show 2021.

The concept currently accommodates a single passenger and will be fully autonomous. However, the company states there will be models fit to fly two passengers in the future. It has four rotors with maximum speeds up of 56mph, powered by a 90-kWh battery.

GM recently announced advancements in its Ultium battery technology, which included higher range and energy density, and lower costs. The Ultium batteries have a flat shape – unlike traditional cylindrical batteries – helping them stack and therefore save space.

The company – which has Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac as some of its brands – is already well underway with electrifying its automobiles. Its electric GMC Hummer, Bolt EUV, Cadillac Lyriq and Cadillac Celistiqis are examples of this.

Alongside its eVTOL concept, the company also released more details on its BrightDrop electric delivery service.

Not much other information has been released about the specifications of the concept or its production timeline.
