Heli-Expo – Aichi Prefecture order firefighting Bell 412EPI

Aichi Prefecture in Japan has ordered a Bell 412EPI. The aircraft will be used for firefighting missions and disaster relief.

“The selection of the Bell 412EPI will enhance Aichi’s capability and help ensure the safety and security of citizens throughout the region. Bell Helicopter continues to invest in modernized technologies to increase customer value and aircraft performance, and the upgraded EPI platform offers an advanced flight deck and more horsepower, which fit the mission needs of our customer. We are delighted and honored that Aichi has chosen the Bell 412 again, following 20 years of superior performance with their Bell 412EP workhorse.” said Richard Thornley, managing director – Japan, Bell Helicopter.

The Bell 412EPI also serves as the base design for the UH-X replacement of the Ground Self-Defense Force UH-1J fleet in Japan.

Aichi is the fourth largest prefecture in Japan, with a population of just over seven million. The state capital is Nagoya.
