London Air Ambulance has formed a partnership with VocaLink, a UK and international payments provider, to assess the ways in which to enhance the donation systems and the associated technologies used by the charity.

Graham Hodgkin, CEO of London’s Air Ambulance, said: “It is ultimately the donations from people and businesses that enable us to save lives each day. Improving the donation experience and making the process easier for our supporters will enhance our fundraising effectiveness, allowing us to continue our life-saving work.”

“As organisations that are both renowned for excellence and built on values of innovation and leadership, we believe this partnership has scope to support the ongoing transformation of the charity and would like to thank VocaLink employees for choosing us as their charity,” added Hodgkin.

Cara O’Nions, marketing and customer insight director at VocaLink, said: “We are pleased to have partnered with London’s Air Ambulance, a new addition to our Responsible Business programme. Welfare of the residents of London is of prime importance to us as a number of our employees, customers and business partners are also a part of this community.”

O’Nions added: “VocaLink is driving innovation in the payments industry and sharing this expertise will provide London’s crucial life-saving service the enhanced financial system support they require to be readily available to the people in need.”

London’s Air Ambulance has served London for 25 years and has treated over 30,000 critically injured patients in London and attended most major incidents.

The charity is now trying to raise enough funds to purchase a second helicopter and to recruit additional pilots and fire crew to extend its daylight flying hours in the summer months, enabling the service to reach an estimated further 400 patients per year by aircraft.
