Russian Helicopters Holding Company (part of Rostec State Corporation) delivered the first Ansat helicopter in medical configuration in 2018 under the contract with State Transport Leasing Company (STLC).  The rotorcraft was delivered to Russian Helicopter Systems. This year STLC will get another 11 Ansat helicopters in medical configuration from Russian Helicopters.

STLC obtains helicopters within the framework of the federal project “Timely provision of emergency medical services in difficult-to-reach regions of the Russian Federation”, providing for the development of air medical services in Russia. Last year Russian Helicopters delivered 29 medical helicopters under the contract with STLC. In accordance with the new contract STLC will get 31 helicopters in 2018: 12 Ansat, 13 Mi-8AMT and 6 Mi-8MTV-1.

“Air medical helicopters are indispensable in difficult-to-reach regions and it is critical to us to ensure prompt replenishment of the regional aircraft fleets with the modern air medical rotorcraft.”  That is why we started the production of the helicopters in advance, in September 2017, and we set a goal for ourselves to deliver all of them before the end of Q1 2018,” Andrey Boginskiy, Director General of Russian Helicopters Holding Company, emphasized.

“We are happy to deliver the first medical helicopter in the year 2018 to Russian Helicopter Systems under the contract with our partner in the implementation of the air medical program, Russian Helicopters Holding Company. By the end of 2018 STLC is planning to deliver all the helicopters received from Russian Helicopters to regional aviation companies, implementing the goal set by the country’s leadership related to the renewal of the aircraft fleet and rendering emergency medical services in difficult-to-reach regions of Russia,” Sergey Khramagin, CEO of STLC noted.

Ansat is a light twin-engine utility helicopter serially produced at Kazan Helicopters. In May 2015 a helicopter modification with a medical module passed certification. The modification complies with all the international air medical standards and allows supporting patient’s vital functions during transportation. In accordance with the certificate the design of the helicopter allows for its prompt transformation into either cargo, or passenger version with the capability to transport up to seven people.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan became the first customer of the medical version of the new Ansat produced by Kazan Helicopters. The helicopter designed for medical evacuation and on-board emergency medical services has already been put at the disposal of the Republic’s hospital as the means for emergency medical evacuation and transportation of casualties.

It is to be recalled that in 2017 the first Ansat with a medical module was delivered to the customer under the contract with STLC at the end of May, while in 2018 the delivery period shifted and the first delivery took place already in March.
