AgustaWestland has announced that Samsung Techwin of South Korea has ordered another two AW139 helicopters.

The helicopters will join Samung Techwin’s two others AW139s delivered in 2009 and 2010 to perform corporate transport and utility missions. These two additional aircraft are planned to be delivered in the second half of 2014.

AgustaWestland’s head of region, NE Asia, Andrew Symonds, said: ”It gives us great pleasure that such an important customer has decided to further expand its fleet of AW139s, confirming the exceptional reputation of the type with this operator. The AW139 has proven highly successful in the Republic of Korea for a number of applications including VIP/corporate and utility transport, search and rescue, maritime patrol, firefighting and disaster relief. We are confident there’s even greater potential for this model in this market in the future.”

The AW139 is also operated by the Korea Coast Guard, Gangwon Fire Fighting Department, Gyeonggi Fire Fighting Department and Incheon Fire Fighting Department.
