The Air Ambulance Service joins Air Ambulances UK

The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) has become the latest charity to join Air Ambulances UK (AAUK), the national organisation representing air ambulance charities.

Launched 20 years ago, TAAS operates the national Children’s Air Ambulance plus the local air ambulance services for two British midland counties. Those are the regional air ambulances services of Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA).

AAUK membership is open to air ambulance charities, National Health Service  (NHS) Trusts and Ambulance Services. It also welcomes businesses and organisations engaged in air ambulance services or supporting the sector. The organisation represents the UK’s 21 air ambulance charities.

Simmy Akhtar, AAUK, CEO welcomed The Air Ambulance Service to its group. “By working in collaboration with our colleagues across the UK we are better able to work towards our shared objective of saving more lives together whilst supporting innovation to achieve the highest and best possible specialist care for patients no matter where in the UK they are,” said Akhtar

Acting TAAS CEO Emma Peake said: “By working together, we will be able to play an active role within the national discussions surrounding the sector including the ability to influence and make an impact.”

Peake added: “We want to work towards saving more lives, wherever and whenever we are needed most and being aligned to a national network of similar organisations will only support our shared objective.”
