Waypoint leases one H135T3 to ALT

Waypoint Leasing has leased one H135T3 to German aviation service provider ALT to be used for pilot training.

This is the seventh H135 Waypoint has delivered and marks the lessor’s first transaction with ALT.

Simon Dahm, Waypoint’s vice president of sales and relationship management, Europe, said: “We are pleased to complete our first transaction with ALT, an important new customer for Waypoint with whom we are delighted to partner. This transaction is representative of our continued fleet diversification and ability to support operators in a wide range of industrial-focused missions, including pilot training.”

Waypoint has been driving to diverse its fleet, taking its helicopters out of more-volatile markets such as oil and gas and spreading its fleet to markets such as utilities and SAR as well as pilot training.

The lessor’s CEO, Hooman Yazhari echoed this point in an interview with Helicopter Investor at Heli Expo in January, shortly after he joined Waypoint.

“The wonderful thing I have found since joining the company is that we are already diversified away from volatile markets such as oil and gas. We have customers in adjoining markets such as utilities, SAR and private flights.

“And this disruption in the industry has caused us to look more closely at alternative uses, sectors and geographies for our fleet. We are not alone in the industry in spending a lot of our time defining and executing on strategies for alternative uses for helicopter assets.”

ALT is a subsidiary of ADAC Luftfahrt Technik GmbH and mainly provides MRO services to German police forces, search-and-rescue operators and private-aviation customers.

Thomas Hütsch, CEO of ALT said, “Waypoint’s technical and operational experience were of great value to our team in sourcing this aircraft.  They were able to move thoughtfully and quickly to provide us with the aircraft we needed in a tight timeframe.  Waypoint’s strong relationship with Airbus Helicopters was evident in the execution of this transaction, and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
