CAE enhances pilot training for offshore oil and gas operations

CAE announced at Heli-Expo that it has significantly enhanced pilot training for helicopter operators serving the oil and gas market, customising aircraft training for offshore operations.

CHC Helicopters are helping CAE experts to integrate offshore elements of standard operating procedures and other operational requirements not usually taught in initial and recurrent pilot training. The Eurocopter AS332L, L1, L2 and EC225 training programmes have been customised as well as the programmes for Sikorsky S76C+, S76C++ and S92 helicopters.

“CAE has raised the bar on tailored training for offshore operations,” said Brian Clegg, VP Resources and Operations, CHC Global Operations. “And in addition to our original locations serving Canada and the North Sea, CAE is expanding its footprint to support our crews in South America and Asia Pacific. They are the only training company building offshore role training capacity to support a global operation such as ours.”

“The CHC-CAE training model is the most comprehensive in the industry with both leading technology and instructional methodology,” said Jeff Roberts, CAE Group president, Civil Simulation Products, Training and Services. “Through the curricula, CAE 3000 Series full-flight simulators, and highly experienced instructors, we enable helicopter operators to enhance safety and operational efficiency every day.”
