Galicia renews INAER contract

The local Spanish government of Galicia has renewed its emergency service contract with INAER Spain.

INAER Spain has been awarded another four year contract to provide emergency medical services to Galicia in Spain.

Under the contract, worth around £7.5 million, INAER will operate two helicopters for the Public Foundation of Health Emergencies of Galicia. There is potential to extend the agreement for a further two years.

INAER has been operating this service for the Public Foundation of Health Emergencies of Galicia since 1990.

INAER will use two Airbus Helicopters EC135 helicopters, the aircraft equipped with a latest-generation respirator, defibrillator, blood pressure monitor and heart rate monitor.

The helicopters will operate from the bases located in the Provincial Hospital of Santiago and the Hospital Piñor of Ourense.

In 2013, INAER’s helicopters carried out 571 emergency missions in Galicia. Over the past year, the 27 medical helicopters operated by the company conducted more than 8,950 emergency missions throughout Spain, helping around 7,500 people.

INAER is a wholly owned subsidiary of Avincis, who is urself owned by Babcock.
