Two Airbus H145 helicopters from Milestone Aviation Group Limited are being supplied to Quark Expeditions for its polar expeditions.

Both helicopters will be stationed on the dual heli-decks of Quark Expedition’s new cruise ship Ultramarine and will be used to fly passengers on adventure opportunities in the polar regions. The H145s will be used for activities such as heli-hiking, heli-supported kayaking, and trekking.

Andrew White, president of Quark Expeditions, said the Airbus H145 helicopter was well suited to heli-tourism at the poles. “These two sleek, polar-ready helicopters are the fastest and most fuel-efficient in their class and enable will us to take guests deeper into the polar regions than any other operator in the expedition industry.

“We couldn’t do this without dedicated partners like Milestone Aviation, whose unfailing commitment and expertise have been instrumental in advancing our helicopter adventure programme.”

Milestone Aviation’s Nadjet Garmi, vice president Commercial USA & Canada, said the agreement provided an exciting opportunity for the helicopter leasing company. “We are delighted to support Quark Expeditions in delivering the ultimate helicopter adventure for its guests, bringing them even closer to the unique landscapes of the Arctic and Antarctic.”

The H145 is well suited to the harsh environments of the polar regions thanks to its versatility, autopilot technology, efficiency, and cutting-edge safety, said Garmi. “These two helicopters will transform how the guests of the Ultramarine interact with the polar terrain, providing them with the most memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.”

Meanwhile, the H145 range, including the BK117, EC145 and H145, has more than 1,350 helicopters in service worldwide and logged more than 5.5m flight hours, according to the manufacturer
