CHC Group has secured an offshore helicopter transport contract with oil and gas company OMV in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The group won the contract to provide helicopter services for the upcoming drilling program at the PL 644 field. Operations will begin in Q2 2019.

Helge Nesvåg, CHC’s sales director for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) said: “We are excited to work with OMV as their aviation partner in this project.

“This project allows us continue to build on our decades of experience supporting oil and gas customers in the Norwegian Continental Shelf as we continue to evolve our services and technology to best meet their needs.”

CHC will be flying to the Bergen drilling rig from its base in Kristiansund – a city on the west coast of Norway. The helicopter operator will be flying up to four flights per week using Sikorsky S92s.

Per Andre, CHC Helicopter’s general operations manager for Norway said: “CHC is proud to continue a safe and reliable transportation offering to customers in and around the Norwegian Continental Shelf,”

“We look forward to helping OMV meet their transportation needs throughout this project and are eager to start flying on their behalf upon project commencement next year.”
