UK helicopter services company Castle Air is to expand its maintenance operations with the acquisition of Heliwork Services.

The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, extends the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services of Castle Air, headquartered in Cornwall, south-west of England.

Heliwork Services adds advanced blade repairs and component overhauls to Castle Air’s services. Other services include: base and line maintenance and Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) contracts. The business also provides AOG support, parts sourcing, flight training, charter, and rotorcraft sales and leasing.

Castle Air MD Ross Bunyard welcomed the acquisition. “Their strong reputation and technical expertise make them a perfect fit for our organisation. This acquisition not only broadens our service offering but also reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest standards of helicopter support across the industry.”

Nigel Guppy, commercial director at Heliwork Services said the agreement marked a new chapter for Heliwork Services. “With the combined strengths of our teams, we’re well-positioned to deliver even greater value to our customers through enhanced capabilities and continued engineering excellence,” he said.

Established in the 1970s, Heliwork, based at Thruxton Airport, Hampshire in southern England has been a Bell helicopter customer service facility since 1981 and a Leonardo Helicopters authorised service centre for the past 17 years.

Its facilities include a 20,000sqft hangar, equipped with specialised workshops for dynamic and hydraulic component MRO plus a 10,000sqft hangar for Leonardo blade repair operations, opened in 2020.
