Airbus Helicopters delivers first H160 to China

Airbus Helicopters has delivered the first H160 helicopter to government services operator GDAT in China, enabling the start of H160 operations in the country.

The aircraft will be deployed on a range of missions including for the energy sector, including offshore transport for oil and gas platforms, wind farms and harbour piloting. The H160 will also be tasked with emergency medical services (EMS) and other municipal public service missions.

Peter Jiang, chairman of GDAT said the operator was proud to receive the first H160 in China. “The introduction of this aircraft continues GDAT’s long term commitment to providing state-of-the-art helicopter technology to both the Chinese market and those around the world, and underlines our commitment to the safety, quality and efficiency of our operations,” he said.

Colin James, MD of Airbus Helicopters in China said the H160 sets a new standard for medium class helicopters worldwide. “We are thrilled to welcome the first one into the Chinese market, providing our customer base with a cutting-edge solution in this sector.”  

The helicopter is one of the 50 H160 helicopters ordered by GDAT in April 2023. Five out of these 50 H160 helicopters have been delivered to GDAT.

Commenting on the order at the time, Jiang said: “This contract is a great example of the importance of economic and trade cooperation between France and China. The innovative H160 is the perfect addition to our fleet and will enable us to continue our success story on the Chinese market that began with our 21 H225 helicopters.”

Meanwhile, the H160 has entered into service in Brazil, Canada, France, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, UK, US and other European countries.
