Special paint schemed South African AgustaWestland AW139

AgustaWestland has announced the delivery of a second AW139 helicopter featuring a customised exterior paint scheme to a private customer in South Africa.

The helicopter is the 600th AW139 to be built by AgustaWestland and will be used to perform corporate and passenger transport in South Africa as well as emergency medical services. It will also be used to monitor wildlife.

The helicopter has the provisioning to fit floatation gear, a cargo hook and is fitted with an infrared camera system and is fitted with six passenger seats. The brightly coloured tree-like swirls which decorate the helicopter’s exterior by all painted by hand and the designed is said to be inspired by the art, cultural traditions and most notably, the nature of South Africa.

Andries Wannenburg, head of Region Eastern and Southern Africa, said: “We are delighted to deliver this highly-tailored AW139 helicopter to our customer. Its ‘one of a kind’ combination of style and multirole mission ability provides further evidence of AgustaWestland’s outstanding capability to supply customised solutions as well as the unequalled versatility offered by the AW139 design.”

The helicopter passed through London Stansted Airport last week, before it featured as the the centrepiece of AgustaWestland’s exhibition at the Helitech International 2013 event held at London’s ExCel Centre.
