DRF Luftrettung joins forces with DRF Maintenance

DRF Luftrettung joins forces with DRF Maintenance to become DRF Aviation Services.
Helicopter emergency medical services company DRF Luftrettung has joined forces with DRF Maintenance to pool their technical expertise in a business branded as DRF Aviation Services.
Roman Morka, CEO of DRF Aviation Services said: “With DRF Aviation Services, the combined technical expertise of the DRF Group is now available to all customers. Our company already operates almost entirely digitally. The goal: less time on the ground, more time in the field. Customers benefit from our experience, rapid decision-making, and comprehensive services.”
Backed by 50 years experience in helicopter maintenance and modifications, DRF Aviation Services will offer all its services through a single new business unit.
Operating one of the largest Airbus helicopter fleets in Europe, the new business said in a statement: “When a helicopter is in the dock, it’s unavailable for service. With the founding of DRF Aviation Services GmbH, a full-service provider for the technical support and further development of helicopters is entering the market [the firm is] clearly positioning itself as an innovation driver in the industry under the motto ‘Ahead of Time’”
DRF Aviation Services offers Part-145 base and line maintenance, Part-21 development and manufacturing operations and CAMO services. The new business also offers clients support for the purchase and sale of helicopters, production support, helicopter ferry services and a comprehensive spare parts portfolio.
The business operates 18 docks at three locations in Germany: Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, Straubing, and Wilhelmshaven. The locations enable helicopter maintenance and repair work to be carried out conveniently for customers throughout Germany in addition to requests from other European countries, according to the company. The service is complemented by mobile line maintenance teams that provide on-site support to customers.
Meanwhile, in January DRF Luftrettung confirmed its helicopter and fixed-wing fleet logged 36,407 missions last year – a rise of 1.6% compared with 2024. It also reported a big increase in the frequency of night call outs for its aircraft. In additon to Airbus H135 and H145 helicopers, the business’s fixed-wing ambulance fleet includes aircraft such as the Learjet 35A and the Cessna 680 Citation Sovereign.
