Westair Helicopters confirms offshore deal in Nambia

Westair operates a fleet of AW helicopters in addition to its new H175.

Offshore helicopter operator and maintenance firm Westair Helicopters has confirmed to Helicopter Investor it has signed a seven-year leasing agreement with MHS Aviation,  subsidiary of Boustead Holdings, to boost offshore rotary operations in Namibia, Africa.

Westair is to lease an Airbus H175 helicopter in oil and gas configuration, with the first offshore flight scheduled for August. The CEO of Milan-based Westair Edwin Soeters said, “We are excited to welcome the Airbus H175 helicopter to our fleet. This move, supported by MHS and Airbus Helicopters, introduces new operational capabilities and solidifies our commitment to sustainability and excellence in service.”

Founded in 2018 by Weststar Aviation Services, Malaysia, Westair Helicopters was launched to expanding helicopter services to Europe and Africa under the Weststar NDD brand, primarily serving the oil and gas industry. In 2023, two new partners, Westair Aviation, Namibia, and Avico Group, France, joined forces to lead the company, rebranding it as Westair Helicopters.

Based at Milan Malpensa Airport in northern Italy, the company operates a fleet of 14 Leonardo AW189, AW139, and AW169 helicopters across Africa and Europe in addition to the Airbus H175. In addition to the offshore oil and gas market, its fleet is takes with VIP flights, medical evacuations and search and rescue missions.
