A new power-by-the-hour deal has been agreed by Bristow and Leonardo.

Bristow and Leonardo have sealed a long-term support package for AW139 and AW189 helicopter fleets designed to ensure improved maintenance and operations efficiency.

The operator will also add four new AW189 helicopters to its offshore energy services fleet between next year and 2026 to support growth and its contract schedule. Plus, Bristow is to commission a new AW139 full flight simulator in Aberdeen, Scotland in 2026. The new device will join an existing AW189 simulator at the site.

The enhanced power-by-the-Hour (PBH) agreements for search and rescue (SAR) operations and offshore energy services helicopters will provide tailored maintenance and operational efficiency, according to the operator. The global fleet support agreement covers key performance indicators, inventory management, training, Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) and other services provided by Leonardo.

“The finalisation of these long-term support and training agreements will support Bristow’s ability to meet the evolving needs of both our Government Services and Offshore Energy Services operations,” said Stu Stavley, chief operating officer for Offshore Energy Services at Bristow.

The four new AW189s, designed for Bristow’s offshore energy services business, are part of an order revealed earlier this year. “These additions align with Bristow’s strategic objectives to enhance operational capability and meet contractual demands,” added Stavley,

Leonardo’s Paul De Jonge van Ellemeet said the renewed Global Support and Training Agreement for the AW139 and AW189 showed the manufacturer’s commitment to providing the latest solutions.

“By offering full component coverage service plans, localised technical support, and access to our advanced simulators and courses, we are ensuring Bristow continues to operate at the highest level of efficiency and safety as they also keep expanding their fleet of Leonardo helicopters,” said Leonardo’s senior vice president Commercial Market Development & Global Accounts.
