Argentine Ecureuil crashes claim 10 lives

Two Airbus Helicopters Ecureuil’s have crashed in La Rioja province in the north-west of the Argentina.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the two helicopters, which were being used during the filming of French television program ‘Dropped’, collided with each other.

All ten persons on-board the helicopters lost their lives.

The program, on French TV station TF1, takes celebrities into rough terrain, leaving them there to see how they can survive without basic human comforts.

The French presidential office confirmed that three famous sports people lost their lives in the accident, including two members of the French Olympic team.

Olympic swimmer Camille Muffat and Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine both died, along with Yachtswoman Florence Arthaud.

“The sudden death of our fellow French nationals is a cause of immense sadness,” said a statement from French President Francois Hollande.

Aviation Safety Network confirms that the two helicopters involved were AS 350B2 LQ-FJQ Gobierno de Santiago del Estero and AS 350B3 LQ-CGK of the Government of La Rioja.
