EASA grounds all AS332L2 and EC225LP Super Pumas
On JUne 2 2016, EASA grounded all Airbus Helicopters AS332L2 and EC225LP Super Pumas. EASA earlier grounded all passenger operations but have now extended it to include search and rescue flights.
The total grounding follows the discovery of metal fatigue in the gearbox of a CHC helicopter that crashed on 29 April 2016 in Norway.
Airbus Helicopters supports EASA’s cautious approach, in light of the new findings from the AIBN’s preliminary accident investigation report. The company will continue to fully support the AIBN, EASA, their customers and the ongoing investigation by providing information in full transparency, while working with the wider industry to ensure safety.
