Waypoint Leasing has closed a lease agreement with Southern Vietnam Helicopter Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (“VHC”), for one AW189 helicopter, which will support Premier Oil offshore operations from Vung Tau, Vietnam.

Philip Stransky, vice president, Sales & Business Development, Asia at Waypoint Leasing said: “This is an impactful transaction for Waypoint as we place our first AW189 with an important customer in a new operating jurisdiction. This transaction reflects Waypoint’s ability to respond rapidly to market demand – closing this lease in fewer than four weeks – and coincides with our commitment of broadening our global reach to better serve our customers. We look forward to continue collaborating with VNH South on aircraft leases in the future.”

Clark McGinn, senior vice president of Sales & Relationship Management of Waypoint added: “We have seen an uptick in demand for new technology aircraft driven by promising macro trends and recent industry events that have led to a supply shortage. This transaction further validates that there are significant opportunities to place these heavy and super-medium aircraft with regional and global operators throughout the world to service offshore oil and gas as well as a variety of other missions.”

Waypoint’s portfolio includes more than 130 aircraft for 18 customers in 28 countries with total assets in excess of $1.6 billion. Additionally, Waypoint has firm and option orders with aircraft manufacturers for more than 125 helicopters valued at more than $1.7 billion, to be delivered over the next five years.
