AW189 chosen for Russian oil & gas operations

Russian operator Aviashelf has chosen one Leonardo AW189 to support oil and gas transport operations in Sakhalin Island, Russia.

The AW189 will be supplied along with a support and training package by Leonardo and is expected to deliver in summer next year.

The helicopter will be fitted with a Full Ice Protection System (FIPS) to operate in extreme weather conditions.

Leonardo has signed more than 150 firm orders and options for its AW189s, making it Leonardo’s most successful super medium helicopter.
