Norwegian air ambulance operator Norsk Luftambulanse AS (NOLAS) has taken delivery of the first civilian Helionix avionics equipped Airbus Helicopters H135.

This first civilian delivery comes nine months after the first military delivery to the UK Ministry of Defence.

“In demanding environments and under almost all kind of weather challenges, it is great to have the support of the new technological developments that the Helionix version can offer,” said Rune Midtgaard, CEO of NOLAS. “It reduces the pilot workload and increases the safety of the operation and, in the end, the ability to reach the patients in need of the advanced medical support the service can offer.”

The Helionix cockpit system is a modular system that is designed for use across all Airbus helicopters. In standardising the design, Airbus Helicopters hopes that it will be easier for pilots to fly different helicopters.

NOLAS will take delivery of a further six Helionix H135s before the end of 2018.
