Ultimate HELI supports discovery of The Endurance
Ultimate HELI, the South African operator, was a key part of the team that found The Endurance, the lost vessel of Anglo-Irish explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton. The ship sank in 1915 and was under 3km (10,000ft) of water.
The project to find the lost ship was initiated by the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust (FMHT), using a South African icebreaker, the SA Agulhas II.
Ultimate HELI operated a Bell 412EP helicopter, on lease from Milestone Aviation, and a contracted K-Max helicopter that provided aerial support moving crews around the sea ice.
“We are immensely proud to participate in this once in a lifetime expedition. Our Helicopters and crews that supported this operation operated in harsh flying conditions over decreasing sub-zero temperatures,” said Shaun Roseveare, CEO of Ultimate HELI. “It is a tremendous achievement by everyone involved and we wish the team safe sailing back to Cape Town.”
