Helicopter sales, management, engineering and charter company Volare Aviation has opened a maintenance, management and refurbishment facility in at its London Oxford Airport base.

The 16,000-sq ft facility, at Hangar 14, Bay 2, provides room for up to 12 twin-engine executive helicopters to be worked on simultaneously. Specialising in pre-owned Leonardo, Airbus and Sikorsky models, the business offers expertise in interior and exterior work from leather stitching on seats to paint work.

Dustin Dryden, founder and chairman, Volare Aviation said the new helicopter facility enabled the company to deliver a comprehensive service to helicopter owners. “From this fully accredited facility, with international approvals including EASA [European Union Aviation Safety Agency], UK and US FAA, we have the ability to purchase, refurbish, manage and maintain owners’ helicopters all under one roof – from one location,” he said.

Volare’s expansion at the airport will help to service “pent-up demand for on demand, private aviation”, said Dryden. Nick Isbister, director of Sales, Volare, added: “We have seen a significant uptick in interest for helicopters since the pandemic – both for charter and acquisition among HNWIs [High-Net Worth Individuals], mirroring the trend in business jets.”

Newcomers have turned to private aviation to transport their families, friends and colleagues efficiently and safely in a Covid-secure environment, whilst saving time and travelling in comfort, said Isbister.
