CHC Brazil lands Petrobas operational safety award

CHC Helicopter’s Brazilian helicopter division – CHC Brazil – has won the Petrobras PEOTRAM award for operational excellence in offshore Transportation for the third consecutive year.
The operator collected the accolade after the Brazilian state‑owned energy company’s annual audit assessing offshore aviation operators against the IOGP 690 international standards for safety, maintenance and operational integrity. CHC won the highest overall evaluation from a total of six companies under consideration.
Gilson Caputo, operations director, CHC Brazil said the organisation was proud to receive the award for the third year running. “It reflects the strength of our safety culture and the high standards CHC applies across all operations in Brazil and worldwide,” said Caputo. “My thanks to our frontline and support teams whose commitment ensures we deliver outstanding service every day for customers across the region.”
Each month, the operator transports about 35,000 Petrobras offshore workers using a fleet of S-92A and AW139 helicopters. “This scale of activity, paired with consistent delivery in a demanding environment, is a core part of CHC’s role in Brazil’s energy sector,” according to the operator.
CHC Brazil has expanded its operations over the past three years in response to rising sector demand, it added. “CHC’s repeat success reflects its position as a global leader in safe and reliable offshore helicopter services,” claimed the operator. “Backed by nearly 80 years of operational experience in some of the world’s most remote and challenging environments, CHC has developed robust processes, procedures and a mature Safety Management System that drive consistent performance.”
Meanwhile, the oil giant last week expanded its oil and gas portfolio with a new exploration block off the coast of São Tomé and Príncipe in the Gulf of Guinea, West Africa from Oranto Petroleum. Petrobras said in a statement: “This transaction strengthens exploratory activities on the African continent, with the purpose of portfolio diversification, and is aligned with the company’s long-term strategy, aiming to replenish oil and gas reserves through exploration of new frontiers and partnership operations.”
