HAI reports: Milestone agrees S-92 lease deal with Lider
The S-92 will be delivered to Lider in the coming months.
Helicopter lessor Milestone Aviation has signed a lease agreement with Brazilian offshore operator Líder Aviação for a Sikorsky S-92 aircraft.
Configured for offshore passenger transport, the S-92 will support Líder’s operations for Brazil’s national oil company, Petrobras. The aircraft, which is scheduled for delivery in the coming months, will be deployed on long-range missions to ‘pre-salt’ oil regions across Brazil. (Pre-salt oil deposits are located offshore under deep layers of rock and salt and require big investment to extract).
Sébastien Moulin, head of Europe & Americas, Milestone Aviation welcomed the new lease agreement. “The Brazilian offshore industry continues to be one of the most dynamic markets for offshore helicopter passenger transport and the advanced capabilities and operational standards of the S-92 mean that it is well-suited to support such missions,” he said.
Milestone’s S-92 deal with Líder follows an earlier agreement to supply a Leonardo AW139 helicopter.
Junia Hermont, CEO, Líder said the company was proud to have pioneered S-92 operations in Brazil; having introduced the aircraft more than 15 years ago. “In 2024, we will expand our fleet by six aircraft through operating leases, one of which will be the S-92 from Milestone,” said Hermont. “We thank Milestone for their valuable partnership, and we remain committed to providing the best support for the growth of the oil and gas industry in the country.”
The contract was signed at the HAI Heli-Expo 2024 event in Anahiem, California.
Lider is the biggest executive aviation company in Latin America, with more than 1,300 employees and a fleet of over 50 aircraft. The firm operates in five business units: aircraft charter; airport services; aircraft sales and acquisitions; maintenance services; helicopter operations for the oil and gas industry.
Meanwhile, at the European Rotors event in Madrid last year, Milestone confirmed signing lease agreements with UNI-FLY Group for three Leonardo AW169 helicopters.
