ARC Aerosystems and Ecojet agree deal for up to 50 aircraft
ARC Aerosystems has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with startup airline Ecojet to purchase 20 Linx P9 aircraft, with options for an additional 30.
The deal, signed at the Farnborough Airshow, involves undisclosed pre-delivery payments (PDP) based on the achievement of milestones.
“Through this partnership with Ecojet, we are shaping the future of aviation with sustainable, innovative solutions,” said Seyed Mohseni, CEO of ARC Aerosystems.
The Linx P9 is a compound gyroplane capable of taking off and landing vertically like helicopter and then like a fixed-wing aircraft during cruise. The unique characteristics of the gyroplane, such as the top rotor being unpowered, result in a significant reduction in fuel consumption. Its design enables it to remain in a constant state of autorotation.
Ecojet is aiming for operational launch this year. Dale Vince, founder of Ecoject said: “We’re planning to take intercity travel to new heights with ARC Gyrocopters. Not only will these aircraft be emission free they’ll enable us to connect towns and cities across the UK without the need for an airport.
“The Linx aircraft are unique, they take off and land vertically like a helicopter but fly like a conventional plane. The green industrial revolution is here, it’s not just going to enable the things we already do to be done in a net zero way it’s going to enable a whole new approach to things like travel.” This article was first published by our sister title Revolution.Aero.
