European Rotors says tot ziens Amsterdam and guten tag Cologne
European Rotors closed its doors in Amsterdam and looked forward to next year’s event in Cologne, Germany.
This year’s theme, Shaping the Future of Vertical Flight, highlighted the development of eco-friendly technologies. Topics included the progress of eVTOL aircraft, advancements in safety protocols, and the integration of digital technologies in rotorcraft operations.
The 2024 edition of European Rotors drew more than 4,600 visitors from around the world, 234 exhibitors and 18 helicopters in the exhibition halls, according to Fredrik Kampfe, board chair for European Helicopter Association (EHA) and industry affairs director for Swedish Aviation Industry Group.
“I saw an exhibition floor filled with enthusiastic people and the feedback we have received is very positive,” said Kampfe. “With a great educational programme, well-attended best practice sessions, and a career day attracting a large number of young participants, we reached out to professionals of both today and tomorrow.”
Kampfe admitted his personal highlight was to fly a virtual reality (VR) helicopter simulator finally and to make new friends in the helicopter community.
This year’s event offered a wide educational programme, said Dr Frank Liemandt, show director, European Rotors. “Our attendees appreciated plenty of first-time events such as a series of ‘Best Practice’ sessions conducted jointly with industry representatives and operators; presentations on ‘How to use your equipment’ in the Rotor Safety Zone; and events like the Career Day.”
Another highlight was the new helicopter safety mentorship programme, he added.
Next year’s European Rotors takes place in Cologne, between November 17th to 20th, 2025. The annual event, sponsored by EHA and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), showcases the latest innovations, and regulatory changes in the vertical flight sector.
