CHC wins three-year North Sea contract with Equinor

CHC has won a contract with Equinor to supply lift using Sikorsky S-92 and Airbus H175 aircraft.

CHC Helicopter has won a three-year contract with Norwegian multinational oil giant Equinor to support its Mariner and Rosebank fields in the North Sea.

Under the terms of the new deal, CHC will provide sole-use Sikorsky S-92 support for Rosebank field for three years. A second S-92 will join CHC’s operations in 2026 to meet forecast demand as the project develops.

For the Mariner field, CHC will deploy an Airbus H175. All aircraft will operate from the operator’s base in Aberdeen, Scotland providing crew transportation services.

Dave Grant, commercial director – Europe, CHC Helicopter said CHC and Equinor have a strong partnership in the UK and global markets. “We’re proud to continue to build on the collaboration with this new contract,” said Grant. “Mariner and Rosebank are critical projects to the UK and Europe’s energy security, and our deep sector experience means we are uniquely positioned to support their success.”

The Rosebank field is located around 81 miles (130kms) north-west of Shetland. The Mariner field is sited 93 miles (150kms) east of the Shetland Islands. This is the oil company’s first operated development in the UK North Sea and has been in production since 2019.

Equinor has been producing from the– its first operated development in the UK North Sea – since 2019. It is located on the East Shetland Platform, 150 kilometres east of the Shetland Islands.

CHC supports both Equinor’s oil and gas and renewable energy initiatives in the North Sea. The operator’s Brazilian division, CHC Brazil, provides crew transportation services to the Peregrino field, which is the largest field operated by Equinor outside Norway.

Meanwhile, last month CHC Helicopter has appointed Neil Gilchrist as its new chief financial officer.
