EASA approves Eurocopter solution to possible EC225 cracks

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has validated the safety measures proposed by Eurocopter to prevent EC225 shaft failure.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has validated the safety measures proposed by Eurocopter to prevent EC225 shaft failure.

The UK CAA has lifted operational restrictions and Norway and Denmark are expected to follow soon.

The Eurocopter solution comprises of a set of modifications and inspections which aim at monitoring and detecting vertical shaft crack conditions to educe the likelihood of any shaft crack.

Eurocopter says it is helping customers with the required modifications. Eventually all shafts are expected to be replaced.
