Sharon Desfor has been elected international secretary and treasurer of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA).

As president of appraiser HeliValue$ and publisher of the Official Blue Book, Desfor has spent more than 30 years explaining the unique characteristics of helicopters as financial assets to banks, investors and insurance companies.

“Sharon has forged new ground yet again.”

“Sharon has forged new ground yet again. As an advocate & stalwart of the helicopter industry for a number of decades, Sharon is also a passionate and influential leader in the appraisal industry,” says David Crick, partner at Lloyd Asset Services. “As the newly elected secretary and treasurer on the board of governors of the worldwide appraisal body, we can look forward to Sharon’s passion & professionalism shining out.”

Desfor says she will focus on promoting communication and transparency between members and ASA’s leadership. She moves from her role of governor of the ASA machinery and technical specialties committee.

“Sharon has a strong commitment to the education of all appraisal professionals,” said Jason Kmiecik, vice president of operations, HeliValue$. “We are excited that she will have the opportunity to make the ASA even better.”

Desfor has also been editor of both their M&TS Journal and ASA’s reference book, Valuing Machinery and Equipment, Third Edition.

Sharon is past Chair of the Helicopter Foundation International and of the HAI’s Finance & Leasing Committee. She was also editor of HAI’s finance handbook: Helicopter Funding: Assembling the Pieces of the Puzzle.
