Raymond James Investment Banking recruits aviation banker David Fowkes
David Fowkes has joined Raymond James Investment Banking as MD and co-head of the Aviation and Aerospace sector team,
Raymond James Investment Banking has strengthened its position in aviation and is expanding into aerospace with the recruitment of veteran banker David Fowkes.
Taking up the position of MD and co-head of the firm’s aviation and aerospace sector team, Fowkes is backed by 25 years of investment banking experience across both aviation and aerospace. He has global expertise in mergers and acquisitions (M&As), capital raising, restructuring and aviation project finance, having led transactions in the US and in more than 30 other countries.
Head of Raymond James’ Diversified Industrials Group Alper Cetingok said: “In addition to David’s extensive experience and deep relationships in the aviation and aerospace sectors, his experience in restructuring and aviation project finance adds to our existing capabilities and enhances the ways in which we can help our clients.”
Rotary wing aircraft operators
Fowkes joins Raymond James from Imperial Capital, where he was a senior leader in its Aviation and Aerospace investment banking practice. In that role he focused on capital raising, M&A and restructuring for fixed and rotary wing aircraft operators, lessors and maintenance and repair organisations (MROs) and aerospace clients.
His previous positions included: investment banking and capital markets roles at Seabury Group, helicopter operator Bristow Group, Deutsche Bank’s special situation group focusing on aviation related investments, lending and advisory and M&A. He also worked on capital markets coverage at Lehman Brothers.
He joins Tom Mullins, MD and co-head of the aviation and aerospace sector team. Fowkes said: “Restructuring will be key to resuscitating the broad aviation and aerospace markets. I’m thrilled to work with Tom and the team to continue to build out Raymond James’ investment banking practice in this growing space.”
Restructuring services
Raymond James Investment Banking’s Aviation and Aerospace practice offers clients capital raising, M&A advisory and restructuring services to air carriers, aviation service businesses and aerospace market participants throughout the value chain.
The team has completed more than 90 equity financings, debt placements, M&A transactions and restructurings for sector clients around the world since 2000.
