Apollo Air Services has opened its first southern UK base at Cambridge City Airport to meet growing demand and better serve southern England and northern Europe. The operator has experienced a 40% increase in enquiries year-on-year since lockdown eased, with half of these enquiries from first time customers.

Steve Graham, director, Apollo Air Services, said: “We’re delighted to launch our new base at Cambridge and expand our offering in the south. We already have a bases in Scotland, Wales, and the north of England and now we can better service the whole of the country and meet the growing demand coming out of London. We are also seeing more enquiries for trips to Paris and northern Europe, as customers want to avoid commercial planes, and now from a distance perspective, this is more feasible and cost effective for both us and our clients.”

Cambridge City Airport is a small regional airport with fast and convenient links to London. It offers an FBO, with baggage scanning on-entry, so passengers can go from the front door to their flight with the minimum of disruption, according to Apollo.

Airport director, Kevan Craske, said: “We’re delighted to have Apollo Air Services within our partnership team and look forward to welcoming their customers for many years to come. There has never been a better time to charter flights and we see this partnership as offering passengers the very best travel experience, whether for business or pleasure.”

Apollo already has four bases in Carlisle, Leeds, St Andrews and Cardiff and with the new addition of Cambridge, it says it will be better placed to meet the growing demand for helicopter travel and service the south of the UK including London, the south coast and European cities such as Paris and Brussels.

Last month Apollo became the first helicopter company in the UK to install air purification systems in its craft, that has been proven to deactivate 99.4% of airborne virus including Covid-19. One of its new AW109 aircraft, air purification fully installed, will be located at Cambridge City Airport and is ready to charter now.
