Faroe Islands operator Atlantic Airways has taken delivery of the second of the pair of AgustaWestland AW139s it had ordered.  The aircraft will be used to perform search and rescue missions and for scheduled passenger transportation within the Faroe Islands. The helicopters replace two Bell 412s.

OY-HIL – serial number 31722 – was ferried this morning (Thursday) through the UK via Southend Airport , and then to Wick Airport at the most northerly point on the British mainland and on to the Faroe Islands. The helicopter follows the delivery of Atlantic Airways’ first new AW139 OY-HIH in December 2015.  Both aircraft have the new 7000 kg gross weight feature.
