Single engine helicopter supply rises, sales stable: Aero Asset

North American buyers were the most active buyers of pre-owned single engine helicopters.
The supply of pre-owned single engine helicopters for sale reached a four-year peak in the fourth quarter (Q4) of last year while sales remained stable, according to the latest Heli Market Trends 2024 Annual Report from Aero Asset.
The supply of single-engine helicopters for sale ended 30% higher in Q4 2024 year-over-year. The absorption rate increased to 12 months of supply at current trade levels, revealed the Single Engine edition of the report.
Measured by transaction volume, both North America and Asia Pacific single engine sales entered a bull market, while sales in Europe slowed, revealed Aero Asset research. North American buyers were the most active, accounting for two-thirds of all single-engine helicopter transactions last year.
Buyers in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region were the second most active. Europe dropped to fourth place in terms of volume ranking.
The continent also recorded a 26% increase in single-engine helicopter supply for sale, amounting at the end of last year to 35% of the global stock. The supply for sale in APAC accounted for 25% of the total, climbing 90% while North America accounted for 23% – up 36%. The supply of single engine helicopters in Latin America was 10% of the total, down 25%) and the rest of the world accounted for 7% – a rise of 22%.
The average transaction price increased 4% and average days on market increased 2% yoy, revealed the Aero Asset research. The most liquid preowned market last year was Airbus AS350 B3/B3e/H125, followed by Bell 407/GX/P/I. The least liquid preowned market in 2024 was Airbus EC130B4/H130T2, with an absorption rate of 1.5 years.

Meanwhile, Aero Asset’s last twin engine helicopter report, published in September 2024, revealed the global pre-owned market faced significant headwinds. Transactions were down 30% yoy and prices reached a five-year high in the first half of 2024.
