The Leonardo Helicopters AW189 is a 16-seat twin engine helicopter and in the eight tonne class, designed for the offshore energy market but has many varied other uses. Competitors are the Airbus Helicoptes H175, H225 and Bell 525 Relentless. The helicopter was launched at the 2010 Farnborough International Air Show. The first flight of the aircraft took place on the 21st December 2011 in Italy. Leonardo Helicopters (formerly AgustaWestland) displayed a full size mock-up of the AW189 at the Farnborough International Air Show 2012.
